University of Glamorgan

Glamorgan Sport covers all sports and recreation activities at the University, offering a one-stop shop for sports courses, facilities and clubs.

Our facilities are among the best of any university in Wales and host a wide range of activities. These include a large Sports Centre on our Treforest campus and 30 acres of playing fields at the Glamorgan Sport Park. This purpose-built playing area has five floodlit pitches and two all-weather pitches, one of which is a FIFA approved full-size ‘rubber crumb’ pitch. Our facilities are so good that many professional teams regularly use them for training, such as the Wales National Football Team and Cardiff City Football Club, as well as the touring New Zealand and South African rugby teams.

Our fantastic facilities are also popular for the extensive health and fitness programmes, which offer every possible option for sporting fun and competition. We have over 40 classes each week in term time, from squash and pilates to canoeing and climbing.

Glamorgan Sport also embraces the different University sports teams that play in the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) Leagues. We have a Sports Bursary and a Sports Scholarship Scheme to help players reach the highest levels of student sport. We provide academic courses across three faculties, from Foundation degrees in sport to studies at PhD level. Alongside these, we also offer National Governing Body Coaching Awards. The Glamorgan Sport Coach Education Week is extremely popular with our students and fifteen awards are available in one week.
