Glamorgan graduate signed by Hong Kong Scottish rugby team

August 8, 2012

Hong Kong Scottish have completed their off-season forward recruitment with the signing of University of Glamorgan graduate, Jamie Pincott.

22 year-old Jamie, from Reading, gained a 2:1 in his BSc (Hons) Sports Science & Rugby degree at the University of Glamorgan.

After graduating from Glamorgan, Jamie went on to complete his PGCE at Cardiff University. He carried out the teaching practice elements of that course with Dean Parsons, Senior Lecturer within the Faculty of Health, Sport and Science, at the University of Glamorgan.

Jamie said: “Going out to play for Hong Kong Scottish and coaching in the community in Hong Kong is a fantastic opportunity and I’m really excited. I can’t wait to get out there and start playing some rugby in a different environment, with a professional set-up.

“Glamorgan was the only university in the UK that could offer me a specific sports science degree focusing on my favoured sport of rugby. I was keen to utilise the opportunity to learn, and work alongside some of the top coaches in South Wales, and the opportunity to work abroad coaching in different environments. I found Glamorgan a great sporting hub with some of the top facilities in the south of UK. I also found that the university has some of the most knowledgeable and talented lecturers that provided an excellent overview of the sport science world.”

When Jamie is not playing rugby for Hong Kong Scottish he will be helping to coach at Flying Kukris, a club run entirely by volunteers to provide rugby training to both boys and girls from the age of 5 up to 18.
